Key achievements on the Cayman Islands national transformation journey
In 2005, Gareth organised, facilitated and chaired the Cayman Islands first ever National education conference, which has since become an annual event and remains the largest forum for educators to gather, interact with each other, and share best practices.
The initial two day conference of 750 delegates encouraged brutally honest feedback from all stakeholders in education and was the first step of the journey to totally transform education in the Cayman Islands.
Following the conference, as one of a team of four he co-wrote the "National Consensus of the Future of Education in the Cayman Islands" which has served as the Cayman Islands bluprint for change. This document was debated and unanimously passed by all of the elected members in the Legislative Assembly.
